A Wedding Fit for the Silver Screen

Goodness me, it certainly seems Summer has finally arrived with this heatwave we’ve been having! Today seems to have cooled slightly however, which is a little welcome relief for Molly the barn owl (and us I have to say!)

This week we wanted to share with you one of the most unusual weddings we have attended to date. And it was a fabulous one! The bride and groom – Gemma and Matthew, are huge film fans, so decided on the wonderful Electric Cinema in Birmingham city centre as their wedding venue.

The Electric Cinema is the UK’s oldest working cinema, after opening it’s doors in 1909! It now offers two digital screens, showing a mixture of the latest quality mainstream, independent, foreign and classic films. As well as features such as a licensed bar, sofa seating and waiter service.

So on Sunday 28th May we packed Molly the owl ring bearer into her box and set off for the city centre. The ceremony was wonderfully unique. Not only did Gemma and Matthew recite their formal vows, but also their own vows, made up from famous film quotes!

The big screen was of course also used throughout the ceremony. Playing some of Gemma and Matthews favourite clips from various films and cartoons. Despite the rather unusual setting for a wedding, Molly was not phased in the slightest. She flew the rings perfectly to Neil, who was Matthew’s best man, right on cue.

Afterwards, we gathered in the foyer for some photographs with Molly before Gemma and Matthew were whisked off to their reception in a Ghostbusters car!

It really was a wedding with a difference! Gemma and Matthew, we were honoured to be able to be a part of your wonderful wedding. It was a day we will most definitely not forget! Wishing you both a life full of love and laughter and of course, a happily ever after.
