If you have read any of my other real weddings posts, you will know that I think all of the weddings we have been lucky enough to be part of are beautiful, which of course they are. Today’s ceremony though, absolutely touched my heart, sense of romance and feelings of utter serenity.
The ceremony took place at Thornbury Castle Hotel in Gloucestershire on Wednesday 7th October. It was in fact a Celebration Ceremony as the American bride and groom were already married, having exchanged their vows back in San Diego, where they live and are from. It was the most intimate of affairs, with just a handful of witnesses including two wonderful photographers who had flown over from the States to capture this special moment, the wedding co-ordinator, an amazingly talented violinist, us, and of course Molly played a part!
Simone and Chris saw and fell in love with Thornbury Castle so on their whirlwind tour of the UK decided to celebrate their marriage once again, in this most historic of settings. In fact, the couple must be lovers of history as they detoured to Stonehenge on the way to Thornbury from their London arrival.
Thornbury Castle Hotel is a gorgeous wedding venue and an amazing piece of British history and heritage. It was once owed by Henry VIII and dates back to the 10th century and the time of the Domesday Book. It is set in stunning grounds complete with a vineyard and is the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony.
Celebrant Frank Bonner oversaw the ceremony in the stunning garden settings. Molly, The Owl Ring Bearer took turns to fly the rings down the aisle to the couple who then gave it to their spouse after exchanging some beautiful vows. Molly loved the attention and the fact she got to spread her wings not just once but twice going down the aisle. She was of course, excellently behaved and thoroughly enjoyed posing for the photos with the couple after the ceremony.
It was a wonderful, peaceful and relaxed experience, which we are so proud to have been part of. I seriously could not recommend Thornbury Castle Hotel any more highly. The decor, the staff and the service was impeccable. The pot of tea we enjoyed in the lounge beforehand was amazing too! Seriously, if you are thinking of getting married in the Gloucestershire area you should certainly check out Thornbury Castle Hotel and of course, if you also want an incredibly well behaved Owl Ring Bearer present – you know who to contact!
There are no other words I can use to describe this magical day so I will let the pictures do the talking.
All that’s left to say is congratulations to Simone and Chris, we thoroughly enjoyed being part of your special day. We hope you both enjoy a long and happy life together.
